Tiago is my first introduction to coaching and I’m so glad I took the plunge; hiring him was without a doubt the best investment I’ve made in my lifting career.

Having read books authored by Eric Helms, Mike Israetel, James Hoffman, Greg Nuckols, etc. I felt well versed in my knowledge, but I hadn’t had much exposure to implementing theory in the real world. While working with Tiago, I expanded my knowledge by seeing methods through a different lens, while still (of course) abiding by the fundamental training principles. He’s evidence-based, accommodating, and gives quick, detailed responses to your questions. You get a solid plan and practical knowledge along the way.

Furthermore, before coaching, I felt like there were times where I was just ‘going through the motions’ and ‘putting the work in’. It’s easy to let form slightly faulter when pushing to an RIR 1, to extend a massing phase way too long, to let various recovery modalities slip, to decrease your ROM to give the illusion of progress…but when you know that another human being is carefully analyzing your performance and putting in genuine care and thought into your training program, letting those things happen becomes much more difficult. It’s this psychological component of coaching that I find so invaluable.

“I’ve worked with Tiago for almost three months now (3 trainings per week). After a hypertrophy and a mini-mini peaking cycle (only 1 week because I decided I wanted to test my 1RM before going to the army) I’ve tested my strength today. In my last comp (1yr ago) I totaled 472.5kg (180/92.5/200) @82.5kg. My combined best training total was 500kg (190/110/200) always @ around 85kg. Today I did 520kg (200/110/210) @90kg.

This is a HUGE result for me because I broke through two mental barriers (200kg Backsquat and more than 200kg Deadlift). Furthermore I did a conventional Deadlift where my previous best was 180kg (did the 200kg with a Sumo Stand). Tiago let me the all the work I hated because I suck at it. Pumping up my lats, deadlifting several times per week and working on my core definitely helped the most.”

The stand-out thing for me about Tiago was how personalised absolutely everything about the coaching experience was. He would do all the tweaks and adjustments, eliminating any room for guesswork. Even amidst all my whining and complaining that ‘I lost Xkg but still look the same!’ I kept faith in Tiago and in the process, and came to an incredible end. Fortunately, the successes of this weight loss extended much beyond the visual. My anxiety got a lot better, as did my social life. Buying clothes became a lot easier, I was a lot less self-conscious and the whole experience, quite simply, changed my life.”
“I’ve been training since early 2013 when I decided to make a change in my lifestyle and looked at fitness and decided that improving my body would be the way to go.

I went to a local gym and just used random equipment (mostly machines and treadmills) to just get a feel for exercise after so many years of sedentary living. “I began Tiago’s programming on January 1st. It was my entrance to powerlifting training.

I’ve had amazing success and I see myself continuously progressing on this program. I think the set up is ingenious and the program is engaging and enjoyable, tough but easy to scale.

The most dramatic change has come in my low bar squat, since I was deadlifting and benching for years, but I just started squatting in January after years of loathing the movement. What I like best about it is the tapering through the week from volume to control to RPE, as well as the addition of accessories not normally found on powerlifting programs. I like the undulating periodization as well.

“I started working with Tiago in November 2018. Being a personal trainer myself, it’s easy to get caught up with my own clients, causing me to neglect my training and nutrition. When I parted ways with my former coach in May 2018, I spiraled off track in terms of proper nutrition and meaningful training sessions. My body composition rapidly deteriorated leaving me unsatisfied with the way I looked. Luckily, Tiago was referred to me by a college friend that is currently one of his clients. Although I am much lighter than when I first started with Tiago, I am lifting as much, if not more, on the big 3 compound movements.
